SILVER MEDAL: Easter Wine Show Awards 2014
WINEMAKER’S NOTE
Light onion skin colour. Tropical fruits such as papaya and melon with a solid presence of pears poached in baking spices. The palate shows good richness through with great length brought by a fine avid vein. Elegant and full.
VINIFICATION
Harvested on cool mornings, the grapes were gently processed and the press fraction separated. The powerful “free run” portion was fermented under cool conditions to retain aromatic intensity. Gently fined and filtered to bottle.
VINTAGE SUMMARY
The weather gods were very benevolent in Marlborough this year. A cool spring and early summer were followed by a warm and dry autumn creating perfect conditions to produce intensely flavoured wines.
